Mendel/it
La macchina a destra è la stampante RepRap chiamata "Mendel" dal precursore della moderna genetica.
E' la seconda versione, nuova e migliorata: piccola per poter stare sulla tua scrivania, ma con una capacità di stampa sufficiente per stampare grossi oggetti (see specifications below). La macchina è fatta di parti comprate da fornitori locali o online, e parti che può produrre da sola - tutti i componenti strutturali translucidi che potete vedere. Nella fotografia, sullo sfondo, potete vedere il software RepRap che potete utilizzare per stampare i vostri oggetti. Noi forniamo il software ed i disegni costruttivi, gratuitamente - è tutto open source. Tuttavia dovrete comprare qualche componente standard da fornitori di vostra scelta fino a £395 (pari a 400 - 450€). L'idea di reperire il materiale necessario e costruire una macchina da soli può sembrare scoraggiante, ma quest'area del wiki è dedicata a rendere l'intero processo il più facile possibile.

Mendel vs. Darwin
Mendel is the latest generation RepRap machine. Mendel supersedes the first version, which we call Darwin. For RepRap Version I "Darwin" instructions follow this link.
Mendel has the following key improvements over Darwin:
- Bigger print area, smaller machine footprint
- Improved constraint on the z-axis to eliminate jamming
- Better axis efficiency
- Simpler assembly
- Capacity for tool changing (to follow very shortly)
- Lighter and more portable
