Alternative Approach to A Nozzle?

Here are two alternative designs for paste nozzles:

Contour Crafting - House Building Prototype Robot This one seems to have a spade smoothing the edge of the paste.

CNC Dispensing - Rotating Nozzle With this one, instead of forcing material perfectly straight down, it appears to let it trail behind the nozzle a little.

Implementing either would require an additional axis, and I'm guessing the firmware would need to keep the slit at a tangent to the tool path (or the CAM software could do it in G-code, maybe?). It's beyond my skill level, but it looks interesting, so I'm putting it out there. --Lukefabis 10:45, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
