RepRaper "RepRap Walmart" Chinese Filament Closed? Good Day All, Does anyone know if "RepRaper" the Chinese plastic filament seller is still in business? I can't seem to find a working link to the site anymore. I bought 5 KG of PLA from them for a crazy cheap price. The only real problem with the filament is that it is a real pain to get the first layer to stick. Anyone have any recomendations for me? I can get Faberdashery filament to stick to my hot glass plate easily; but this stuff is killing me! When I can get the stuff to stick, the prints come out great. Anyone know what happened to them or who manufactured their filament?

Surprisingly their tolerance on 3mm filament was pretty good, made prints with it that show less artifacts related to filament tolerance than with the stuff I got from colorfabb... I am printing with their stuffs, and even for a noob, i had satisfying results. to be honnest, i found the crystal clear PLA from Makerbot a lot harder to print than RepRap filaments...

By the way Sublime, i like your Tantillus...going to try to build one myself, using a lot of cheap chinese "stuffs", as i live in Guangzhou.

The chemical consistency appears to be fine. The real issue with me is that the diameter seems to vary from about 2.7x mm to 3.05 mm. I have a 1/4" PTFE insert in my hot end and the variance in diameter caused a jam after about 3 hours of printing. I widened my nozzle and PTFE insert with a #28 drill (3.57 mm) which increased the time between jams to about 8 hours. Unfortunately I do a lot of 12 hour prints so I immediately switched back to the Ultimachine.com product which is always top quality.

I suspect this will be OK for someone who has shorter prints to do or a larger ID on the hot end barrel. Or someone who just has a penchant for "self flagulation"

If anyone is interested I have 7 rolls left ( 1 x Red,1 x Black, 1 x Blue, 1 x Yellow, 3 x white) and would like to sell for cost + postage from CA,USA. Or best offer. Happy to sell one roll or the whole lot.

I have no way of knowing but it seemed like a little ball of dirt inside the filament. This is grey 1.75mm PLA and every meter or so there is one of these inside the filament. More info here. Couldnt see these in the black PLA but that destroyed a MakerGear hotend after a few hours of printing and found the same blobs in some white that I really liked but decided it wasnt worth it anymore. Their dark translucent blue was iffy as well although right now their orange/tangerine PLA is printing away and running reasonably fine. [Yes, for those keeping score I have 6 spools of their stuff!] YMMV? I just dont see the point of saving a few bucks for Chinese filament.

It also seems to require a somewhat higher extrusion temperature than the 4043D I have here.

Guess everyone gets different results. I've printed on blue tape (fine) glass and mirrors with little issue. ABS juice works great as well. But lately just kapton with little issue. Just works for me.

And it deteriorates quickly. Three or four prints and i can throw it away, because stuff doesn't stick anymore.

That, combined with the pain that is application of Kapton to a bed (even using the soapy water trick) was enough to make me ditch it.

I use blue tape and then after the print, i take the glass off of the bed, slip a razor sharp chisel under the print and hammer the object off.

Now that I can actually print with this stuff, I can take advantage of the higher "glassing" temp this plastic appears to have.
