3dstuffmaker.com - opinions?

I'm looking to get a pre-assembled Mendel and was looking at the one 3dstuffmaker.com provides here:
3dstuffmaker.com Prusa

It seems like it might be good quality, but I couldn't find anyone that had purchased from them. I purchased a Huxley from TechZone, and after two or three weeks of back-and-forth emails, finally got my Huxley, which, although complete (excepting missing nuts/bolts/washers), had a Z axis belt that was unusably long and an extruder/hot end that isn't going to work properly. Only after this did I find out TechZone had taken down their website and closed up shop... and I appear to be lucky to have even gotten anything from them. I've already been scorned once, so I'm looking for one that is pre-assembled so a) I don't waste time building it over several months again, and b) I can start printing ASAP and spot problems within a couple of days. As the old addage goes, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

So I have a few thoughts about this vendor WITH NO ACTUAL EXPERIENCE (just for those googling and coming across this thread):
1) According to their website, they are located in India, but ship to 20 (30?) countries, presumably including the US. I am cautious of companies and products from India, but that doesn't automatically make them a bad choice to buy from.
2) They have Google+ and Facebook accounts
3) I have come across quite a few individuals that have received their products, but so far no reviews (and none are Prusas anyways) I see advertisements written in review format, but nothing that comes from a consumer.
4) However there are plenty of reviews on their own website, the first of which is said to be from the US, and the remainder mostly ethnic names (again, cautious)
5) They state a warranty on their website covering manufacturing defects, but do not give a timespan for these defects
6) They have a Skype support line and a live chat, although I do not know if the language barrier will come into play, especially with these industry-specific terms. Not to mention the time zone difference means I will probably be sleeping whenever they are available (unless they are 24/7, which I see no indication of). They also provide their address, email, and phone number. **** I have not attempted to contact them **** so this is purely an observation.

And now for the big question: has anyone purchased anything from 3dstuffmaker.com? If so, I would GREATLY appreciate your thoughts about their services and their products, positive, negative, or indifferent. Especially if anyone has their Prusa models.

Hi all, I have successfully fitted and programmed a Tennsylu board to my 3DSM running Marlin with the option of fitting a TFT/SD reader in the future. This board is far more superior to the Gen6 board and has many options to upgrade/future-proof my printer, and has the boot loader so easy as chips to flash using FLIP via USB. To fit this I had to produce an interface board for the optical stops to work but this was very easy to make. The other mods I have completed to date is I have made a new extruder hob from stainless steel rod as the 3DSM one is just an 8mm bolt with the thread hobbed, so there is little surface ara for the filament to grab, and fitting a E3D hot end, this has made a huge difference to this machine and I am now getting repeatable reliable prints. If anyone wants any details to any of these mods I would be more than happy to assist.

I checked their website and it looks like they've got a few new revisions of their machines available. I don't know what circuit boards they're using these days. I do know from personal experience , though: STAY FAR AWAY FROM 3DSTUFFMAKER. It seems a bit too late for you now, but this is advice I wish everyone would heed. They use the cheapest, most non-upgradable parts they can source.

Check the cable connections in the 4 pin connector. I also blew the gen 6 due to a dodgy connector on the 3dsm.
I just measured the motors that i took out of my 3dsm and they are 42mm square by 40 mm long. As far as I know this is a common size. I would like to give you a part number but there is only a QC sticker on the motor.

2nd, buy a RAMPS board, if it blows an axis again replace the driver for $5, I have also heard that you can program the 2nd extruder connection to drive one of the axis by altering the firmware if the damage is beyond just the driver board.

Does anyone have a recommendation for replacement stepper motors? Or at least know what size they are? I'm not at home to measure mine.

My X axis has blown on 3 separate boards now. The first time I thought it was a cheap Geeetech replacement I had. Then a replacement 3DSM board blew. Knowing that was too much to be a coincidence I hooked up my original board and blam-o! It died within 30 seconds. This is literally the worst machine I've ever seen in my life.

My 3dstuffmaker Prusa is 5 months old. No heated bed, bowden type extruder, and gen6 board.

I found that the design could be improved.
The Gen6 board is prone to misstep if you crank the speed more than 30mm/s, but the extruder is bowden which is actually designed for high speed and have major oozing problem (being the 0.7 mm nozzle).

The prusa is printing happily now after I upgraded the board to RAMPS, and replaced the x carriage, extruder to Wade-Greg's Extruder and the hot end.

For learning how the 3d printing works, i guess it works fine. But after upgrading, I would prefer the board just start from the RAMPS board, and the extruder to be the wade's extruder.

yeah.. once you upgrade and start using the machine properly you start to understand the design flaws...
Using a bowden system is meant to be faster but yet their hotends cant handle it.. why would you release something like this.. WHY!!!
I had zero oozing with a Direct drive system using ABS or PLA.. using their hotends I had just crap results... intermittent extrusion..
I made a super cheap heated bed from a plate of aluminium and resistors and an old 12 volt car charger... does the job..

cranking speeds past 40mm causes steppers to over heat and board to fry quickly.. I added fans to all but the Z steppers..
Do yourself a favor if you are going to keep using the gen 6, I would beef up the pins on the board..even coating them with a small amount of solder would be better..
Also upgrade the power wires to the board... they are the incorrect gauge for the printers power consumption..

I went for the Kossel mini, i am half way through the build. I tend to be really slow with these things though so it might take me a while.
The frame is basically 1 base corner and 1 top corner, you print each one 3 times.
Best part is, if you want a bigger print area you just use longer extrusions and arms.
It uses 15x15 extrusions normally, I had 20x20 extrusions lying around so I am building a variant of the Kossel mini.
It uses either v-rail wheels, a linear rack or 8mm smooth rods for movement on the 3 rails. I went for the 8mm smooth rod add ons because its cheaper and I have the idea that it's easier to fix if it breaks.
[www.thingiverse.com] & [www.thingiverse.com]
I think I will try spectra line for the drive as it has had pretty good reviews.

I had been collecting parts to do this modification, but now have been looking at printerboards from Geeetech. I did just buy a replacement gen6 board from them though... I got a whole 30 seconds of movement on the X axis before it stopped entirely. Geeetech's solution was to send me a new stepper driver, assuming I am willing and able to replace the stepper driver individually. I didn't like that approach and won't be ordering from them again if I can help it.

I haven't worked out the specifics on converting the opto sensors over to the printerboard yet, though. The 3DStuffmaker sensors have 4 wires on a 5 pin connector. The printerboard only uses 3. Not sure if I'd have to replace the sensors as well. I'm just trying to get a working printer, not sink a bunch more money into this cobbled together machine.

My gen 6 board is pretty much junk, all the connectors are burning out and need regular reseating... its just a matter of time before they are carbonised completely..
I could probably resolder beefy pins but I cant say i like this gen 6 board much... no heated bed input or mutiple extruders..

Thats another thing that i was completely mislead on...

This printer supporting up to 4 extruders... I am pretty sure the gen 6 board cant do this... nor does it have an input for the heated bed thermistor... I sure as hell would not try and run 4 extruder's from this board. I remember their spec sheet sayin it can print ABS.. i am sure the stock hotends would just die going past 220c
atm my heated bed is just a bunch of resistors attached to aluminium and currently use uhu glue..

Well....using the "M" codes did not work... it seems as though all that happens is that the steps speed is affected but also the feed speed (mm/sec.) after changing the E function with the "M92" command if I adjust in pronterface the feed ammount all the way down to "1" the extruder still puts out 6mm only does it extreamly slow... and you can not enter a smaller than "1" number...ie (0.1) just resets to zero!...only choice left is to re-flash firmware...Grrr!...I guess i can still try to reload the Gen 6 driver program from the web that was posted earlier in this thread have to go back and find it then start there.....learning to hate all over again...!!

then a buisness name search only gives a different partnership entirely http://abr.business.gov.au/SearchByName.aspx?SearchText=3D+Stuffmaker
[9/9/2014 11:41:40 PM] Sir Ket: Hello, I bought one of your i2 prusa Kits a few months ago. I was looking around for the .STL files so I can print out spare parts for my machine but I can't find them on the 3dstuffshare site. Am I just missing them?
[9/9/2014 11:42:13 PM] 3Dstuffmaker Support: Hi.. This is Jane.
[9/9/2014 11:42:28 PM] Sir Ket: Hello this is Mike
[9/9/2014 11:42:37 PM] 3Dstuffmaker Support: You can get STL files from 3dstuffshare.com and thingiverse.com
[9/9/2014 11:42:51 PM] 3Dstuffmaker Support: Or you can draw your own files
[9/9/2014 11:43:34 PM] Sir Ket: Umm I am looking for the .stl files for the printer itself.
[9/9/2014 11:43:59 PM] 3Dstuffmaker Support: ok
[9/9/2014 11:44:02 PM] Sir Ket: in particular the j-head plate and the X carrage.
[9/9/2014 11:44:45 PM] 3Dstuffmaker Support: You cannot get the perfect size in sites. You have to draw by yourself..
[9/9/2014 11:45:02 PM] 3Dstuffmaker Support: Anyways try in thingiverse.com
[9/9/2014 11:45:47 PM] Sir Ket: You are saying you don't have the files for the printer you sold me?
[9/9/2014 11:46:21 PM] Sir Ket: Can I buy a new j-head plate?
[9/9/2014 11:46:31 PM] 3Dstuffmaker Support: Yes.. but the exact measurements you cannot download from sites
[9/9/2014 11:46:37 PM] 3Dstuffmaker Support: Yes you can buy
[9/9/2014 11:48:45 PM] Sir Ket: I found the carrage but not the plate itself. Do you have a link to where it is in the store?
[9/9/2014 11:49:08 PM] 3Dstuffmaker Support: Please contact iprint.sales skype id.
[9/9/2014 11:49:13 PM] 3Dstuffmaker Support: They will help you

so I go to Sales..
[9/9/2014 11:51:30 PM] Sir Ket: Hello, 3dstuffmaker support said you would be able to help me.
[9/9/2014 11:51:37 PM] iprint sales: yes
[9/9/2014 11:51:43 PM] iprint sales: This is jasmine
[9/9/2014 11:51:47 PM] iprint sales: srom sales team
[9/9/2014 11:51:52 PM] iprint sales: How may i help you
[9/9/2014 11:52:31 PM] Sir Ket: I was looking for the .stl files for the j-head plate of my i2 Pusa kit.
[9/9/2014 11:53:33 PM] Sir Ket: or failing that a link where I could buy the j-head plate.

and then nothing..
I am offering them money and they ... there are just no words.

Anyway, I have spent the last 3 hours digging around thingverse for the j-head groove plate but since they use a modified X-carriage I have had no luck. If anyone has a link to one I would be super grateful I think it's time for bed..

Thanks Mike

yeah I was under the impression it was Fully Australian when i made the purchase...
I cannot figure out why they do it, maybe its a combination of things...Maybe to evade consumer laws in Australia, they are very tight.

I remember I had a paypal dispute, But in the end they kept on reassuring that it will be fine..ended up getting replacement parts quickly ect..
They gave me some very crude advise, being a noob i took it all seriously, they basically led me down the path of extreme frustration and many hours lost being told useless unhelpful crap. I had to filter out the crap advise which was hard.
They reverted back to things like my filament being bad, I had over 5kg that i tossed... That hurt.. My new system will extrude dirty filament if I wanted to with out much trouble.

100% there extruder and especially the hot end is a total piece of shit.

Its one half ass business.
Looking at companies like QU-BD that sell stuff for like $200 thats is pretty much the same kinda quality it seems for way less price.

3DSM would be okay if it was $500 for their best printer, then i would not of complained, but mine orignally cost something like $1000 and was cracked and broken out of the box, using crap red snapper software thats super old. It would of been easier to use a 3d printing pen back then.

all in all, i wish I came to the reprap site first and studied it hard...
Now i have multiple printers. but no more 3dsm...

Also, I encourage anyone who has gone through as much frustration as I have to write a letter to Australia's ACCC. It's their equivalent to the Better Business Bureau and from Aussie's I've contacted, they take those complaints very seriously. I suspect even more seriously when a company is using Australia as a front to an Indian based business. 3DStuffMaker has been ignoring me for almost 3 months now and I've used up my other courses of action.
