Crowd funding to make a video guide?

Hi all.

I am a bit of a film maker. But I love technology.

Been wanting to make a RepRap for a while and I thought that I would create a video tutorial at the same time (as well as a vlog and blog).

The RepRap I want to build is the Prusa.

What I will be doing is documenting the build of it on my blog and in video blogs to.
But the main part of the project will be making the video tutorial with a step by step video guide showing how to make one.
I want it to help people who are thinking of building one or are building one and need a hand.

One big problem with doing such things is that it costs money.
I thinking of starting a crowd funding project on KickStarter to fund the parts to build a RepRap.

I will fund all video equipment and lighting myself.

From doing the videos on YouTube I will earn revenue that will go towards paying the next project that will be the next generation of RepRap.

Ill be making the videos in my studio.... (my shed :P ) with multiple points of view to help the viewer.
I also will be talking through the video giving a description on what I am doing and tips for the viewer.

The blogs are going to be about the progress of the build, things that went well or did not go well and other tips/ problems along the way.
The blog will be in the form of a video and a Blogger blog.

I would like your thoughts on this.

I have seen a few people successfully do this on kickstarter and offer only rewards like printed parts. Well I can also do this and offer other things.

Thanks for reading. Please tell me what you thing. Any suggestions are welcome!

Good video tutorials would certainly help some people to get started smoothly.

The problems I see with your idea are :

1) You want to ask money for doing what a lot of people already do "for free" (putting videos up on youtube). This is going to turn yourself into a target for people who are being annoyed by "ez fast make money with reprap quickstarting" scheme we have seen a lot recently. Hence the negativity.

2) You need to gather some knowledge on the matter before being able to start "teaching" others, even through a video media.

If you are studying for a filming related career, you might make that a long term project.
