Hey, Has anyone else experimented with cleaning/treating a common glass bed with strong sugar soap ? I have been getting some pretty interesting results. Adhesion for PLA was strong enough that I broke my first bed accidentally while trying to detach. Similar results on ABS, curious to try Nylon and other materials now that normally don't attach to regular glass. I understand it's a common degreasing agent, however acetone or alcohol that I used previously to clean my bed didn't achieve results that good. The appeal to me is that it doesn't leave a mess, most glue sticks do after time, especially with dust build up etc, also the adhesion is a lot higher than any glue I have tried. checking into it a bit further, yes it seems that sugar soap means different things depending on where in the world you are. For example it can contain tri sodium phosphate in the states or be based on soda ash (washing soda) in europe.
I was thinking specifically about Mangers sugar soap in the UK. I am from the chemical industry and may have picked this up from a commercial recipe.
