Unable to center print

The printer head goes 45 degrees from the start point
to the other side of the bed and will not stop unless
I hit the kill button. Printer will stop at edge of
bed in manual mode. Seems to do with the slicing
software. Same results with Slic3r and CuraEngine. Any ideas?

If you can drive it manually with success it sounds like either your bed size or zero point location is not configured in your slicer to match your machine hardware/firmware configuration.
