Just in case there are any affected tinkerers that don't often read the developers forum, there is a standard forming for those who wish to create interoperable X axis assemblies that are oriented vertically rather than horizontally as in Mendel and Prusa. Current rough draft is 70 mm center to center for the smooth rod and 30 mm center to center for the Z smooth and threaded rods.
