Thoughts about the Z-axis

Hi!

I was looking at the Mosaic printer where the bed raises and lowers on the z-axis as well as its lateral motion. While the print heead is stastionary in the Z-axis and just travels back and forth.

While the Print head on say thae Prusa rises on the Z and moves laterally.

Are there any thoughts as to which method has better accuracy?

Which has more mass, the head assembly, or the bed?

At first I liked trhe Mosaic with the head firmly planted on the top. But since the Bed raises from one side, I'd think there would be moreplay along both the x and y axis.

The mosaic uses profile rail linear bearings. The slop should be minimal, especially if the bearings have a preloaded fit on the rail. You can see the accuracy in the example prints.
