I tried DAVID 3d and it works if you have a good setup (good cam, narrow laser) It can also stitch multiple scans

The open source tool [meshlab.sourceforge.net] works very well for optimizing 3d scan data. I use it to stitch mutiple scans into one model, close holes, smooth and simplify the mesh. Available for OSX, Win, Linux.</description>
