uploaded all OpenSCAD files for the Prism, including all Makerslide parts as seen in the build pictures. Some parts are still being modified and tweeked. They are available at:

Prism-makerslide build

I have finished all connections and I am beginning to calibrate the printer. The Bowden extruder is working like a charm! If all goes well I should have it calibrated enough to start some basic prints tomorrow and may post some more pictures and videos.

Enjoy!

I paid $23 for two 1meter long makerslide extrusions and about $30-$40 for the carriage parts. I bought the aluminum carriage and the roller/bearing kits from the inventor before he passed it to inventables.com. They list the the 1 meter extrusion for 19.99 and 1.8 meter for 29.99. The system is a bit more expensive than linear bearings and smooth rods, but I think that it is a nice "upgrade".

The "x axis" stepper is on the beam, but not on the carriage. The motor is static and does not move. You can not see the attachment screws for the motor mount, since they are behind the stepper. I will post a video of a "dry" run. I have not connected the heat bed or hot end heater elements nor the thermistors, but all the rest of the electronics are plugged in and functioning. I think I will have it all running in another week and calibrated within 2 (at least that is the plan). I have 3 co-workers drooling and asking their wives for "permission" to build one..
Beautiful. Can't wait to see some video of it in action!

But like DeuxVis suggests, why that motor placement? It would be awesome to get that mass off the X-carriage - but I'm sure you have a reason!

:)
Thanks for sharing!

Nice machine. Do you have an idea of how much you paid for the makerslide components ?

Out of curiosity, why did you choose to put the x motor on the carriage ?
From first glance it seems a bit contradictory to remove the extruder motor using a bowden setup and then adding the X motor there.
