Replicator 2X owner looking to build a BIG Prusa

Hi All,

My name is Doug and I've just signed up to the forum.
I bought a Replicator 2x a short while ago (one of the first in the UK!) and I must admit, its fantastic. I get great prints all the time now and full build volume with no peeling, or distortion, great. It did however cost an arm and a leg.

I have it running nearly all the time so I'm looking to add another printer to meet my demand, but I'd like it bigger!

I love the look of the 8" i3 and from what I seen you guys have been getting great results.

ideally I'd like to build this myself but as the cost is so good I think it may be best to buy the i3 , get it working, then modify to increase the build volume. I see there is an 8.4" x 12.6" heated platform available. are there any users out there using this? I'd love to see how they have modified the build.

Also, I'd great with the mechanical stuff (I'm a mechanical design engineer, so thats lucky!) but not great with too much electronics. how complicated is that side of the build, I can follow instructions and have built a cnc router before... is it well documented?

I need a machine which will get some heavy use so would want to add to the build. having used the Replicator 2X I clearly see the benefit of the 'sealed' chamber, so I was thinking of building the entire thing in a box, if theres builders out there which have done something similar I'd like to read about them....

.... basically any advise is greatly appretiated!

many thanks,

Doug
