SVG to Art of Illusion/any CAD program?

I've been trying to take the Ultimaker SVG files, remove the T-slots and little drill holes in Inkscape, and bring them into Art of Illusion using the SVG import script. I keep on getting nothing! The command gets invoked for the import, but nothing ever shows up in AOI. I've been going through and deleting down to just a dozen or so things, making sure that I convert everything from objects/strokes to paths in Inkscape. However, nothing ever shows up. I've also been trying to convert the SVG files with Wings3D, but it keeps on throwing up a dialog complaining about an error in the Inkscape SVG file.

I'd like to try making the body panels on a CNC router. Is there any quick and reliable way of transforming an SVG to something I can open in a CAD program?

I found the solution to my problem. It turns out there is a bug in the current Inkscape on OS X Lion 10.7. There is a patch here, which fixed it for me.
