It's aluminium.  I've done my time with plastic effectors, moved to metal, and I'm not going back.  There are loads on ebay, but the one I've got is this one:<br />

            <description><![CDATA[ The only real issue I've seen with the cooling block above the effector is there is less room for fans.  I modified a E3d clone similar to what you did for my first effector.  I've since switched to a Prometheus hot end.<br />
