I am repairing/upgrading my antique Anet A8Plus. I burned out the extruder motor driver on the original Anet board by pulling jammed TPU filament out of the hot end. That generated enough voltage and current to fry the poor motor controller. As the original Anet board uses surface mount components, I opted to upgrade to the Ramps 1.6, with individual A4988 motor controllers. I realized too late that the original Anet A8+ uses 24V for the extruder and bed heaters, and set up a new 12V power supply for the mega2560 and Ramps. <br />
 At this point, everything is wired, adjusted and working, and it is time to get the heaters working. My plan is to use the Ramps1.6  AUX1 and AUX2 outputs to control external mosfets that will switch the 24V power for those two heating circuits. I have not been able to find clear instruction as to how to name the outputs in the pins_RAMPS.h. According to one schematic, they are labelled A3,D57 and A4,D58 (for AUX1) and A11,D55, A12,D56 (for AUX2). I'm assuming that the A and D differentiate between using these as analog or digital outputs. <br />
 Unless someone can tell me different, I guess I'll just make those changes in the pins file, recompile, upload and see what the oscilloscope shows when I send a command to heat the bed or the extruder.<br />

            <description><![CDATA[ Hello<br />
On a printer I just changed the ramps 1.4 &gt; 1.6 under marlin 1.8.<br />
Everything works fine except the card which is well inserted but message "no data" (tested with 2 displays).<br />
SD card ok and tested with several SD cards.<br />
I suspect a change to be made in the marlin conf files.<br />
Any idea?<br />

            <description><![CDATA[ Dear all,<br />
<br />
I want power a Ranps 1.4 board with 24V. I read that I have to remove the D1 diode, check all capacitor ratings and replace the fuses.<br />
<br />
In my case, I only want to drive the stepper motor's with the ramps board (no heating bed). I saw there was a 30V fuse connected to the 5A line and a 16V connected to the 11A line. If I were to remove the D1 diode and only use the stepper motor 5A power line, can I then just leave the fuses that are already on the board?<br />
Or is it still recommended to replace the fuses?<br />

            <description><![CDATA[ Hi, I've got an MKS Gen-2Z v1.1 control board based on RAMPS 1.4 and recently after starting the printer the heated bed readings are fluctuating. If I try to heat the bed the LED is lighting up and the bed starts to heat but without reading the correct temperature from it. The thermistor is OK I've check it out, so my guess is that maybe the SMD capacitor might be damaged. Does anyone had this issue before, meaning trying to replace the SMD ? If this is the root cause what might be the range tolerance for it to be correct replaced, the actual on the board is RVT 35V 10uF ? Or, does it work replace with a simple electrolytic capacitor ?]]></description>

everything is good and my step motors work. Next, when I connect this board to my Raspberry Pi5 device and change the 'myPort' code to 'myPort = serial.Serial('/dev/ttyACM0', 250000, parity='N')' connection is established and RAMPS1.4 light flashing to tell us that port is connected but my g code does not work and step motors remain motionless (without any error). First I thought that's issue relates to the Baud rate. So, to solve this problem I tried to change the baud rate in Raspberry Pi 5 via this code 'stty -F /dev/ttyACM0 115200' and checked it again, but that did not work either. Also, I tried any other standard baud rate and failed at all of them. And now, I don't know how to solve it.]]></description>

I'm building a custom 3d printer using ramps 1.4 board.<br />
Thanks to reprap community, I've completed to run motors and endstoppers very quickly.<br />
<br />
I have connected the mk3 heatbed to D8 and mk8 hotend to D10.<br />
They both have 100K NTCs.<br />
Hotend thermistor was connected to T0, and hotbed thermistor was connected to T1.<br />
In the configuration file, hotend sensor setting was 1, sensor0.<br />
Hotbed sensor setting was 0.<br />
<br />
When I chose preheat from lcd menu, a red led on ramps was on for about 5 seconds then I lost view from lcd screen.<br />
<br />
I checked the regulator on arduino and middle pin gives around 3 volts. Now I will change the regulator but what is my problem?<br />
<br />
NTCs and heater don't have polarity.<br />
I was testing for pla.<br />
<br />
My endstoppers may be active while I was making preheat test, does this may be the reason?<br />

            <description><![CDATA[ Hello. I built a homemade printer using ramps 1.4 and I have a problem with the extruder. <br />
When I energize the ramps, the extruder starts to heat up and continues indefinitely (it only stops heating when I remove the power). <br />
I believed it could be a problem with the Q1 mosfet but even after replacing it the problem continues. <br />
I removed the hotend wires from the D10 connector and measured the voltage with a multimeter on the connector pins. It has 12v as soon as I power the ramps.<br />
Does anyone have an idea what it could be? <br />

            <description><![CDATA[ Hi, I'm not sure if this has been considered previously and already solved (or maybe its not a good Idea), I am keen on a Voron esk printer, but I'm not keen on the price, I was thinking I can get a triple z driver controller through Ramps 1.4 board (with a couple of wires hanging off the side).<br />

What I am thinking for the Z I would use the 2 E's and Z becomes E, but for the wiring of Z there would be 3 semi independent stepper drivers, the catch being they would have a common direction and common enable, so all 3 Z stepper drivers would share a common direction, allowing them to move independently of each other as long as its in the same direction, so the first stepper driver would be wired as per normal, then Z2 (initially wired up through an external bread board) would use the enable and direction from Z1, thus freeing up its direction to be used by Z3 as the step.<br />
<br />
What I am after I guess is has this problem already been solved with ramps? so what I would end up with is being able to driver 6 stepper motors off a ramps. They Z wouldn't be in unison but would be confederated.<br />
<br />
I realise there are other pinouts which could be repurposed for a stepper, but one of the advantages I see is that is does not compromise any other feature on the board, the only compromise is that all 3 Z's will move in the same direction.<br />
<br />
This should also allow for Z tilting as long as it is one stepper at a time.]]></description>

Ich habe eine bq witbox und bin eigentlich sehr zufrieden damit! Nun musste ich das Ritzel beim Extruder tauschen, wobei es dann an einer wohl im Betrieb durchgescheuerten Stelle an einem Kabel zum hotend einen Kurzschluss gab.<br />
<br />
Nun tritt der im Betreff geschilderte Fehler auf: gleich nach dem Einschalten des Druckers heitzt das hotend ungeregelt auf. Ich tippe, nachdem ich mich etwas eingelesen habe, auf das "MOSFET".<br />
<br />
In der bq witbox ist, wenn ich mich nicht irre, ein modifiziertes RAMPS 1.4 verbaut. Leider funktioniert der 1:1 Austausch nicht, da sich der Stromanschluss auf einen von aussen aufgesetzten Stecker ändern würde. Den Platz habe ich nicht! <br />
<br />
Es können eigentlich nur 2 MOSFETS sein. Eine von den Beiden bei D9, D10, oder?<br />
<br />
Nun meine Fragen:<br />
<br />
* Kann mir jemand sagen, welchen der Beiden es genau betrifft<br />
* was wären die Spezifikationen von diesem MOSFET. Aus dem was auf dem einen steht, den ich sehe, werde ich nicht schlau. Kann ich später noch hier abschreiben. Wie gross wären die Schwierigkeiten beim Austausch der MOSFETS. Hat jemand vielleichr einen Namen und eine Bezugsquelle? <br />
* wenn ich einen kompletten Tausch von Ramps 1.4 auf 1.6 mache - ich würde auch die Treiber tauschen - müsste ich da was in der Programmierung ändern oder genügt es das Ganze einfach nur wieder zusammen zu stecken? Der Stromanschluss sollte beim Ramps 1.6 passen, da Kabel geklemmt. <br />

            <description><![CDATA[ I hate to bring this up, given past articles, but here goes: Upgraded to Marlin 2.1.2.1 (may or may not be significant), also installed magnetic surface with magnetic rubber backing on glass plate, which MAYbe a factor due to higher thermal mass.  Error trying to reach 60C on bed, gets to 50, LED goes to flashing rather than constant, then quits.  Tried M303 at 50, saved PID parameters, but same problem.  Screen reading is 5 or more degrees C LOWER than temp at thermistor (100K, "1"), using optical pyrometer.  Which is correct at body temp and at 100C boiling water (I'm at sea level).  I've just recompiled using longer timeouts for 2 degree increase (20 seconds to 60), haven't tried it yet.<br />
Resistance of thermistor for bed  is CORRECT for temps up to 50C, but displayed temp is low by perhaps 5-7 degrees.  Thermistor table (1.h) is identical to that of Marlin 1.x which I was using previously.<br />
Bottom line, displayed temp is in error relative to resistance of thermistor.  I'd greatly appreciate any help / thanks /m]]></description>

            <description><![CDATA[ I have a ramps1.4/mega2560 and I have come to the conclusion that my bltouch(generic made by geeetech) is drawing more amps than the mega board can put out because when the probe deploys it makes the LCD flicker and thermistor readings go all over the place. I am going to use a step down converter from a 12v power supply but I don't know how to safely do this. Do I need any type of current limiting device ,resisters, etc., in between? can I just hook the positive straight up to the vcc jumper pin? Also, where exactly do I hook these up to? Do I put the positive on the VCC and just hook the ground anywhere on the servo pin ground?]]></description>

            <description><![CDATA[ Hi everyone, as i'm not an expert in 3D printer electronics, i went here to find a solution : I want to use a RGB Mini12864 Panel with an MKS BASE 1.4 from an old Tevo Tarnantulla ( Old Gen.) The prusa i3 clone, but i have no success to make it work. <br />

What i've tried : Fystec provides support for LCD screen here [<a href="https://wiki.fysetc.com/Mini12864_Panel/" target="_blank"  rel="nofollow">wiki.fysetc.com</a>] : they said that the v2.1 is supported by RAMPS 1.4 . I did everything on the guide, after marlin 2 compiles, the screen remains black . I tried to invert the connectors ( i mean 180° flip) to test, but i have nothing on screen, i tried to re-map pins as said on the wiki of the LCD screen but no luck... have you got an idea ?  i tried first with a V3.0 but i did not read carefuly that this LCD v3 was not compatible with RAMPS, only MKS Gen or recent MKS products . <br />

            <description><![CDATA[ I have placed RAMPS 1.6 on my Arduino Mega Clone. When I feed RAMPS 1.6 with 12V 2A, the AMS 1117 component on Mega is getting hot. I might have attached fans to D9 and D10 in the wrong direction and gave it a try for a second. For testing, I have placed Adafruit Motor Shield on my Arduino Mega Clone and fed it with 12V 2A, the AMS 1117 component did not get hot.<br />
<br />
Does this show that something is wrong with my RAMPS 1.6?<br />
What do you think can be the problem?<br />
I have a multimeter, which components should I test for discovering the damaged component?<br />

I am trying to build a CNC machine with a small XYZ stage.  The motors are 24V x 0.6A, 1.8 degree/step.  The stage uses M6 leadscrew.  The motor drivers are A4988.  I am using all 3 jumpers for each driver, so I understand that in the case A4988 it is a 1/16 micro-stepping.  I defined the bed size in Marlin as 100 X 100 mm.  For the control, I am using a Pronterface software.  The problem is that with the default 80 step size, the motor cannot reach the endstop switch and the error appears ("echo:Homing Failed Error:Printer halted. kill() called!").  It seems that the motor stops before reaching the endstop switch because the time defined for the homing procedure has ended.  Also, I noticed that the travel distance depend on both the bed size and the step size parameters, since when I am increasing either one of the, the travel distance increased.  However, I cannot get the correct settings.  According to the calculator of the step size (https://blog.prusa3d.com/calculator_3416/), the correct step size should be 3200.  However, with this step size, the motor does not move and only produces pitch sound, so I believe this step size is too high.  It seems that I am missing something here.  What would be optimal settings for my setup?<br />

<b>Problem 1</b>.<br />
I can install Marlin 2.1.2 (current release at the moment) and connect to Arduino Mega 2560 with Ramps 1.6 with Pronterface.<br />
I have set the <b>vref</b> for my Drv 8825s to 0.60 and then connect my drivers and Nema 17s to Ramps 1.6.<br />
After connecting with Pronterface I use G1 X10 Y10 without any problems (motors run very smooth).<br />
However, when I use the +x (or -x) and +y (or -y) buttons on the navigation panel of Pronterface,<br />
Nema 17s does not run but they buzz. After this, G1 X30 Y30 does not work just make Nema 17s buzz.<br />
Do you think DRV 8828s are set wrongly or what can it be?<br />
This is my first problem.<br />
<b>Problem 2</b>.<br />
I have plugged Arduino Mega 2560,Ramps 1.6 and LCD 128*64, and installed the library <b>u8glib</b>.<br />
Then, using the setting in <b>u8glib</b><br />

i am using Arduino MEGA and RAMPS 1.4 to control device like 3D printer (deposition of metal powder).<br />
I need to control solenoid (12V 20N JF-0826B ). Solenoid open and close nozzle. But nozzle stays open for like 5 min, so solenoid is overheating. I need high power when solenoid opens or closes nozzle but then i need only half or less of that power. <br />
I also need easy contolling (like setPinState). I tried to use MOSFET IRF520, and PWM to Voltage Converter Module. With some PWM pin i control PWM to V conventer and with voltage from that conventer i control MOSFET. But when i set for example V 2.25 to gate of MOSFET output voltage and current of MOSFET slowly rises. So solenoid is overheating and in reality i dont control it.<br />
Can someone advce me how to control solenoid to have 3 states (full power, half power(or something like that), OFF)?]]></description>

I print the 20mm tryout printing cube , its perfect , no faults and looks great , I try to print a new hotend fan holder from Thingiverse and the layers are rough like a file on the surface.I have tried all types of tempertures , filament speeds all to no avail . I have never had problems like this before , lucky i suppose !! So settings are 230 hotend 0,4 nozzle and normally press start and always a perfect print . So question was is it the new PLA I have just bought ? Nope I had some left from the old roll same result. Reset Simplify to works original settings just in case , its the same . Any ideas out ther ? Using the LCD I can manually move the X / Y and Z axis in the correct direction (MIN is towards zero) towards my endstops. M119 from Pronterface shows that the endstops trigger when I push them correctly, etc...<br />
<br />
I can successfully home the Z axis from the LCD, works great.<br />
<br />
If I try to home the X or Y axis, it hits (and triggers) the MIN endstop, but does not stop moving the SERVO! (I have to remove power).<br />
<br />
If I unplug the LCD screen and use Pronterface....everything works great, X/Y and Z homing all work great!  (But the AutoHOME or individual axis HOME on the LCD don't work, they go towards the min endstops, and they keep going for<br />
X and Y (but do home Z correctly).<br />
<br />
The home direction of all three axis is set to MIN, and servos drive them in the right direction with zero towards the endstops.<br />
<br />
So my question is....homing from Pronterface works great....but not the LCD...what configuration setting do I need to tweak to make that work correctly?<br />

I have an old pre-built ramps 1.4 reprap that's never properly worked due to clogs (no issues related to heaters or the board before though). <br />
<br />
I recently replaced the whole current dual-extruder setup with a new 12v single hotend. After wiring up the new heater and thermistor, I flashed updated firmware to the board and ran a pid tune on both the extruder and bed heater. This seemed to go as expected, the only issue I encountered to this point was the bed refusing to heat (returning a min temp error) if I attempted to set the temp to &gt;50c. I attributed this to a config issue and continued the bed tune at 50c. After updating the pid values for both heaters I loaded a calibration cube and began the print. The axis all successfully homed and the print began just fine until I noticed the bed had been put out of level. I stopped the print and powered the machine down before proceeding to level the bed. After that I turned the machine back on and attempted to home the nozzle to check the level to find that all of the stepper motors were not energised at all. I then attempted to heat up both the hotend and the bed and both gained no temperature before returning heating failed.<br />
<br />
At this point I checked the thermistor readings and found they were reporting the ambient air temperature with frequent small fluctuations, which suggested to me they were working. Next I loaded up the reprap test code to check the led responses and eliminate firmware issues. The board connects just fine and the led blinks during communication. Once the test code was loaded, the communication led began to blink but none of the others showed anything (aside from the constant red). I also noticed that the fans in the board housing were not spinning, so I checked where they were supplied and they were plugged in to the 12v input, along with the psu out wires. At this point I figured I had either fried a mosfet, or the 12v input pins. I don't have a multimeter handy so I cannot diagnose much further right now and I am completely unequipped to replace components on the board itself, so I decided it was likely the arduino had survived and that it made more sense to replace the shield with a ramps 1.6 than waste hours diagnosing and spending 3x on equipment for board-level repairs. <br />
<br />
Does anyone have an idea as to what might have fried in the board based on this info? The replacement hotend is within spec (12v, 40w, 100k ntc) so I'm not sure how that could have overloaded the board. As I say I'm going to swap the ramps for a 1.6 anyway, but I really don't want to start just chain-frying boards. I'm not sure what could have gone wrong and whether it will insta-pop the new ramps as soon as i connect it. Any knowledge or advice is appreciated. <br />

Assuming I had all 5 steppers running at full power, this is a total draw of 7.5A<br />

            <description><![CDATA[ Hi, I hope someone has come across this problem before. I bought some of these MOSFET boards and I can't seem to get them to work. I have my power hooked up correctly, the heater on the output. I've checked the control PWM signal and polarity and its fine.<br />

My heater won't turn on, the red power LED lights and the blue signal LED. <br />
<br />
I measured with a voltmeter, I get around 0.6 volts across the heater terminals and about 2 volts on the gate of the mosfet.<br />
