        <title>variable layer height using command line</title>
        <description> I want to use different settings for the top and bottom of my model. I can do some of this using &#039;variable layer height&#039; using the GUI of Slic3r but the settings do not seem to be stored in the config file so I cannot rerun the build process using a command line script. Is there a way round this?

The command line does have a feature to split the .stl file at a given height,  but is there a reasonably simple way to process the the two slices to  gcode and then join up the the two parts to print the complete design?

It would be easier to combine two gcode files if the extrusion value was reset to zero for each layer, i.e G92 E0, which I have seen in gcode files. Is there any way to configure Slic3r to do this?
