I have posted this in the slic3r forum already just wodering if anyone can help me out.
I am using mach 3 to drive my cnc machine which is three axis with the x axis using two stepper motors using axis X and A.
So I have had to setup the extruder to axis B.

When I read the outputed gcode from slic3r in notepad it is controlling axis x,y,and z and is using axis E for the extruder axis.
I was hoping that there was a way to change setting in slic3r so it outputs the extruder gcode as axis B and not E.

Hope this makes sence new to 3d printing.

An example of what I am talking about, is there a way to change the E output to B in Slic3r , I could see if I can change the axis in mach 3 to E then that would solve the problem but dont know if this is possible.

I'm running a home built printer off Mach3 and a G540. My issues are that it takes a long time to upload the program into Mach3. And I'm getting blobing everytime the program hit a G92 A0.

I modified dimension.py per this post that removes the resetting of the A axis. It works great. No pausing.

Clearly, the CNC model is a backward step for 3D printing. Obviously though, there is a market in CNC users who want off the shelf 3D printing without leaving their comfort zone. The CNC arena is about big, expensive and tried and trusted technology (read : "old"). If you have space for a CNC rig, you have space for an obsolete PC with a parallel port, and a large controller box. If you have spent $1000's on the CNC, an additional $200 for software is not much to worry about.

I can see the point of visualization for CNC machines, you don't really want to stick your head near to a live CNC, and anyway the workpiece may be obscured by coolant. If I want to see what my printer is doing... I look at the printer. I don't need an on screen display for my laser printer, why do I need one for my 3D printer?

So I can see this is a method to introduce 3D printing into the existing hobby CNC area, but it is never going to persuade existing Reprappers to start using CNC type kit for 3D printing.

If there are any real benefits from CNC techniques, such as 3D tool paths, these can easily be adopted.

Hello all, John oly here from the SeeMeCNC crew. I have asked that this Mach3 3 forum be added so that we all can share how we are using Mach3 to control our 3D printers.

I look forward to contributing all of the information we have found to use mach3 with our H-1 printer kits, as well as learning others tricks.

Thanks,
