Fan not working all of the sudden

Hi guys!

The other day I sent a print and came back to see a mess. Printing another file made it clear that the problem was the fan was not turning on (I'm printing ABS).

What I've tried:
- M106 / 107 on pronterface : Fan not turning on
- Setting fan to work all the time while printing on slic3r : No result
- Changing to another fan : No result

Could someone perhaps guide me using a multi-meter to find out where the problem is?

Everything else (motors and heaters) are working fine.

Thanks!

The reading at the fan connector on the Melzi is 11.7-11.8V

Also check continuity between the fan- pin on the Melzi and the black lead of the fan and between fan+ and the red lead. There isn't actually a wire in fan+ because it shares the connection with the heater.

I never use a fan when printing ABS, not sure why you would get a mess, but it would be more likely to warp and de-laminate with a fan.

Check the voltage at the fan connector on the Melzi. There should be 12V across the two terminals when the fan is on.
