It is a limited edition model from 1st December 2013!

It belonged to my late father, who fettled it into working reasonably well - certainly he used it quite a bit with good results.
More recently I have used it a little, however somehow I have erased the firmware on the Duet board (I think because it is accessible via the Arduino tools and I had it permanently connected). I haven't been able to find the correct firmware, and to be honest, technology has moved on so I have purchased something much newer.

I could just heave it into a skip, but I thought I would see if anybody wants it?

It is free, collect from PE8 5ND, respecting social distancing of course!

It is everything you need, in theory you could put the correct firmware into it, faff about with the z-axis calibration, and away you go.

It even comes with the Certificate of Authenticity!!

I think they are still valuable both for the social aspect and for sharing ideas and results. I know the logistics of getting everyone in the same place at the same time can be difficult but tentative dates and re-schedules can take care of that.

My Mendel90 Kit arrived last Thursday, after a little delay for Nophead to improve a few parts, so now it's down to the task of actually building it.

I intend to document the build with photographs which I will put online when time allows but I should, hopefully, have something to show for the next group meeting.

Being new to all this, I will have a stack of questions to ask members e.g.:

Mendel90-specific: How accurate are prints?, What is the long-term calibration stability? etc.

Generalities: What speed settings are people using to print PLA? Has anyone printed Nylon and what were the prints like? etc.

There will be an area upstairs set aside for us. Free wifi is available.

I've started to research into the Mendel90, I like the concept and design and it appears to be much more user friendly than my original Mendel. I think I'll buy a kit and have another go with it all, especially knowing there's someone close-by who's been successful. Dd it take a lot of messing around once built to get it working properly or is it it fairly straight forward?

Regarding slicers: I have used slic3r almost exclusively, and it's worked well for me. Having said that, and after reading the article in the Magazine, I am interested in trying Cura and would be interested in hearing about anyone's experiences with it.

Sorry to post this here but it seems like a good place to find a local expert, i have also posted in the Mendel section if it seems familiar!

So a few years ago I bought and built a Mendel, and it successfully printed one or two very small basic items. I then encountered some issues when trying to print bigger items and had a bit of a play to try and fine tune the machine but with very limited knowledge i kept going backwards, which then ended with the Mendel being left in the corner and its not been touched since.

It seems a waste to me to have it just sitting there and would very much appreciate somebody spending some time with it to make it print properly, set up the software and fine tune the machine etc - I would of course pay the poor soul for their time and efforts.

As mentioned its a Mendel with Gen 6 electronics and an Aluminium print bed, i do have a heated bed but its not got any control device. Built to take ABS but happy to swap to PLA if it makes things easier, and have been using Skeinforge to create the G-Code.

I'm based near Peterborough but am happy to travel to most places and leave the printer with someone for however long it takes!

Whilst skienforge is giving me great results from the defaults supplied by Nophead with the build of my mendel 90 im open to testing other stuff for the greater good.

Thanks to everyone who was able to attend last nights meeting.

I took my time really on the build, spending about 6-7 hours a day over the four days. If you had nothing better to do with your life and had no commitments you could build it in 2 days no problem.

I had some numpty brain dead issue with the bed calibration but that was my fault. slowed me up by at least 3 hours I think.

I will say that Nophead helped me out quite a bit after the first Android print, sorting out Skienforge, totally lost the plot with it and could not see the would for the trees.

I ended up not using the files he sends for the config, but hey that's learning for you.

The prints are all default setting's, and I have not altered anything in Skienforge or Pronteface. So downloading the things from Thingiverse and printing them was easy once I got my head around things. I really need to understand the G-code too so I can get some better and quicker results also.

Its amazing the prints that come out of this thing by default. truly cant wait to really start exploring the setting and what have you. I will bring some stuff with me to the next meeting to show everyone.

I would love another one of these but need to earn some more cash first :)
