Hello Everyone,

This post is all about the TCTShow (3D printing) - I'm asking for people to get involved with the show, exhibit if you can and generally let me know if you would like to be part of it.

We all had great fun last year, for a review of the 2013 show take a look on my blog here, I hope you can make it for this year.

I’m helping out again at the TCT Show on the RepRap Community Hub; spaces are available for the communal area and also dedicated Maker community Pod’s for the show.

It’s a 3 day show this year, September 30th, October 1st and 2nd. It should be packed with both exhibitors and visitors over the show days both in and around the Birmingham NEC.

This year TCT is (very kindly) doing all the stand graphic panels, build and setup for the RepRap zone, so it’s easy to book a space and just bring machines, materials and whatever else you need to demo, promote or show.

TCT are handling all the bookings and costs for exhibiting, they have generously discounted the cost of floor space and also produced all the Maker/RepRap graphics and branding for the zone. If you are interested in home 3D printing this area will get a lot of attention as it did last year, it’s a great way to stand out.

The RepRap community hub also has dedicated seating and networking space, if you wish to use this space for a product demonstration, discussion or presentation of a topic or subject about 3D printing do let me know.

Normal stand space at the show is also available if you prefer to do your own graphic’s branding and/or stand build etc.

TCT also have dedicated start-up zone ‘pods’ if you think that’s more appropriate for you.

If you are interested and want to know more, or if you just want to help with the RepRap Community hub, you can e-mail me – Richard Horne (RichRap) - tctshow@reprapmagazine.com

You can e-mail me, message me here or on Twitter (@richrap3D) or leave a message on this thread.

As with most things RepRap, this only works by people getting involved and giving their time and energy (for Free), If you can help out or want to donate materials, objects or anything else, it would be most appreciated as we (RepRap Magazine and helpers) have no funds or budget, just pure enthusiasm, positive energy and love of this wonderful community.

TCT are planning further press releases for the show soon, so if you want to take part and be involved in this fantastic 3D printing event, let me know as soon as you can.

I enormously enjoyed the 2013 show where I met many of the true heros of the RepRap community having read about it in: [forums.reprap.org].
Wouldn't it be nice to have an article about printing with different materials (maybe from different suppliers)?

Hi All

I have finally got the last of a bunch of different print surfaces which I am going to test for adhesion with ABS. Does anyone have an object that conforms to these criteria:

- Extraspecially warp prone
- Relatively quick to print (~20 mins @ 40mm/s)

I will be writing up the results and submitting an article to the RepRap Magazine after Christmas so ideally I would like your best "Warpy" objects by Dec 26th!

Cheers

I have been "playing" around with my printer for months and have had more problems than I can count. I have returned to ground zero several time re-starting from scratch and am still no closer to getting good reproducable prints.

I find problems listed in the forum and solutions to try. I have asked for an recieved help many times. Many topics seem to just fade away and you never know if the problem was solved or what more to ask. Without photos of problems its often difficult to know exactly what problem is being discussed or resolved, (As an aside, I tried the "torture" test print to evaluated a few setups, Slic3r defaults, defaults from my Extruder/hot end supplier, setups from the Slic3r on-line manual, and set-up from the new Slic3r eBook from "Make:", the results were quite different further emphasizing the need for a graphic "universal" trouble shooter).

There seems to be two types of printer owner/operators; highly technical types and non-tech laypeople. Often the solutions pass right over me technically so I end up trying things that keep fouling me up.

I would sure like to see a visual troubleshooting articles that could be included in an issue of the magazine or even a forum dedicted to identifying and resolving problems. By visual I mean lots of photos, solutions and photos of the results of solutions offered.

To develop such a trouble shooting guide would require a lot of effort and help from both those needing help and those offering same, all in an easy to understand format.

If others see a similar need and are interested I am willing to co-ordinate such an effort.

Hello everyone, I'm planning an article on real-world and practical 3D printing for the RepRapMagazine, if you have any examples of things you have done to assist you in your daily lives or for someone else. especially if the object you made was custom or specifically designed where an equivalent from a shop was not suitable for whatever reason. - We plan to feature as many as possible in a future issue (hopefully Issue 4) of the RepRap Magazine.
Many thanks.

I work for a UK software house based in Suffolk. We would love some help in acquiring open source 3D printer image files (.STL etc) that we can work with to test some research ideas and I wondered if someone here could help us? It is all at a very early stage but in return for any help we get we would be happy to reciprocate with links to a web site or reference the individual.

Hello everyone ! - And apologies for the double post if you have already read this in the UK User group.

This is a post to generate interest in the RepRap Community Meeting Hub event we are planning for September this year at the TCTShow Birminghan NEC - in the United Kingdom.

An intro and background to the event is on My blog here. or in the RepRap Magazine Issue 2

In a nutshell we (‘you’ - the RepRap community) have a large stand space at the TCTShow in the UK, it’s a big and impressive 3D printing show, you can visit for free and also get involved with the RepRap community event.

We need people to assist with any of the following - along with any other good ideas you also have, let us know -

Some of these things can happen, but only if you get involved and help make them real -

We need someone (or a group of people) to design one or more large Iconic RepRap objects, that can be split up into various printable parts, maybe interlocking or as a Jigsaw (Think something like the wonderful Advent Calander by Pleppik) - the plan would be to distribute out the design of these parts (each one a sensible size to 3D print) and for people to print and bring them along to the Show for assembly into a grand, hopefully :) RepRap sculpture! - any parts we don’t get we could print during the two days of the show.

Bring a 3D printer - do you have a nice printer you want to show off? or a new / concept design to talk to people about?

Bring 3D prints - bad ones, good ones, tiny ones, psychedelic ones :) or designs you just can’t yet print and want to talk about.

Have an idea for a RepRap related project, machine or development? - this is the place to discuss it.

Be on the Community Hub Stand - Do you want to help out manning the stand? talk and meet people for as long or as little as you like.

Help give 3D printing advice or demo’s - we will have running machines but we still need people to help show people how to build and use them

Do you sell things into the RepRap community? - come along and meet some of your current or potential new customers.

Bring some cake! - everyone likes cake, we can have a nice cup of tea, slice of cake and a chat about 3D printing.

Do you have any other good idea for the Community Hub? - get in contact and let me know - tctshow@reprapmagazine.com

Or you can PM me if you have any questions.

All of the RepRap Magazine team are planning to be at the two day show.

Dr Adrian Bowyer (the founding father of RepRap) will also be on the RepRap Community Hub stand, come and say hello and talk to all of us about 3D printing, technology and anything else.

Faberdashery will also be joining us for the event, they have a stunning knowledge of 3D printing materials, and will be on hand to advise on all the different types available.

We are also talking to other community members and RepRap Organisations who also hope to come along and help make this event something great, stay tuned for more exciting announcements!

And if you do want to come to the show, you will need to register, it's totally free.

Get involved now (wherever you are in the world) - tctshow@reprapmagazine.com

Cheers,

Hello everyone,

Yes, the prize is still alive. Due to an insufficient number of serious entries by the Dec 31 deadline, we have revised the criteria to make them more flexible, with a new estimated award date of June 30, 2013.

Guidelines here :

[humanityplus.org]

Submissions for the new deadline can be made as per the directions in the link.

Thanks again. It is hard to create a prize that estimates just the right level of difficulty in criteria, as it is easy to make the prize too hard, or too easy. But the new broader criteria may encourage more entries this time.
