Hello ,
i just revived my Ormerod 2 after few years of it lying in a corner and i am wondering ,anyone still using Ormerod 2 and configured Orca slicer for it? if so can you post the configuration for it? i want to try it ,but seems a bit complicated for me,

I know the possibility of getting your reply is really low, but, have you find the configuration? Can you share with me if yes?
Thanks

It's extremely rare for heater mosfets on Duets to fail. If your hot end is heating up more slowly than before, the most likely reasons are a failing power supply or a bad connection. In particular, check that the terminal block screws on the VIN and heater output terminal blocks on the Duet are tight. For more help I suggest you post at [forum.duet3d.com].

I think maybe the problem discussed before: "I picked up the same problem several years ago and it turned out to be the MOSFET TR4 IPD036N04 (Duet 0.6). The gate had become leaky

With the heater turned on I measured approx 4.3V gate to ground where the +5V rail measured 5V. The voltage should have been around 4.95V.

I also noticed that TR4 heated up but not enough to burn the PCB.

With the damaged gate I was surprised that that the MOSFET switched at all let alone partially.

The printer was still under guarantee and RS Components insisted on changing the printer so when I built the new printer I confirmed that T4 gate voltage was almost 5V.

Hope that helps."

Now the E3D tool changer is based on duet2, I think maybe changing duet3 will solve the problem. at first, I wan to change the hot end, or the temperature sensor. but I see the discussion above, the problem still exists.

I've kind of gone the opposite way. I got an Ormerod 1 back in March 2014, and used it quite a lot for a few years, constantly modifying / upgrading it, with new printed parts and bought bits. Still, it was always a rather temperamental machine and hard to get it to print well even after all those fixes and upgrades (especially regarding bed levelling and adhesion, largely due to the frame rarely being quite straight). So it's last big job was turned out to be to print all the parts for a Voron 1.5 I started building in 2018. I "borrowed" the Duet 0.6 board from the Ormerod, thinking I'd get a newer Duet board for it and keep the Ormerod around as a B-unit, but that for some reason never happened. I kept using the Duet 0.6 on the Voron, and the Ormerod was laying partially disassembled in a box.
Then I didn't use the Voron either for a couple years, one of the reasons being some issues with the old Duet board (no firmware new enough to support the BLTouch probe I wanted to install, after moving not having a good spot with wired ethernet to put the printer, and me not remembering quite how I had wired things for a second PWM fan driver).
A couple weeks ago, I did an overhaul on it, replacing some parts and tidying up all the wiring, and a new controller board (an SKR Pico + RPi4 with Klipper and Mainsail). During that process, I decided my dear old Ormerod would never run again, so I scavenged some more parts from it (stepper motor, part of the wiring harness and some of the mounting hardware). So while my Ormerod is now permanently dismantled, it's spirit lives on in the form of some parts in my Printer of Theseus, currently mostly in the shape of a Voron 1.55.

I do remember this community as being pretty awesome while using that printer though. So many fixes and upgrades to the somewhat flawed original Ormerod design, and the work of dc42 and chrishamm (and probably many others) on the reprapfirmware and duetwebcontrol which took it from barely useable to really good, especially compared to what else was available at the time. While 3d printing is a lot more accessible and reliable now, those days were definitely more adventurous and in some ways more fun.

I have a 4-pin Ormerod proximity sensor and it includes a 10uF 10V tantalum capacitor. My best guess is that it is the same component that has failed in your 3-pin sensor. It's likely failed short circuit, which is why the PCB traces are burned. Are they still intact?

If you are in the UK as your username suggests, I could send you my 4-pin proximity sensor if you PM me your address

Ladies and gents,

Long story short I've managed to send 12v into the sensor and of course I was greeted with celebratory fireworks here.

Hence only one component seems to be blown this should be 2min fix, of course if only I would be able to tell what was the component.

Anyone could point me into the right direction?!

Much appreciated in advance.

So that was lots of work. I got the axis to all home and heaters to work. but the bed leveling doesn't work right. It has the wrong corner points. I don't see them in the new config to allow me to adjust them. Can I just add those lines from my old config? My bed is so far from level that it can't print without the G32 function.

I haven't gotten as far as trying the axis offset that was the initial goal for the firmware update...
Thanks again for the help!
