New to 3d printing with smartrap need some help

Hello all,

I have built the version 4.7 and have everything set up, but I'm having trouble extruding. I'm using this hot end with no luck hot end i'm using. Any help is apreciated.

Thanks,

Jonathan

On a metal buildplate you could eventually ground the buildplate and give 5V to the nozzle trough a pull-up resistor

but there ate a few big fat buts.

if there is PVA glue on the buildplate then that prevends the nozzle from making contact
OR
PLA on the nozzle, that's also an insulator.

Now im not sure if the hot nozzle pushes the PVA and PLA enough away to make contact.

So yes it should be possible, but i'm not sure if this is 100% reliable. And if the buildplate is metal then why not use an inductive probe... unfortunately the cheap ones are bigger then the hotend itself

This resulted in some thinking and since I’m figuring out FreeCAD I decided to explore my ideas there..
And this is the (not so practical) result. Bur maybe someone can remix the ideas?

This is done with the Genie hot end in mind. the PEEK of the hotend functions as a slide.
The mount groove rests on zip ties that function as a spring as well.
and the heatsink is the trigger for the microswitch (and that is also held in place with ziptie pins)

It's a lot inspired by Japanese woodworking techniques. :-D

The main idea is to have the probing pressure fully centered in the slide so that the slide doesn't cause sidewards friction. And all the rest is pure to keep things small.

BackEMF, you have just opened up another area to explore. Just when I thought I might get a bit of time to get back to my build ha..ha..
Recently I was asked to design a X end mount that had no servo or movement of any kind, just mount the Genie hotend directly to the X end.
He is manually leveling the bed and doesn't need the head to move to activate a limit switch and doesn't have a servo either.
I suggested using a hall effect sensor to trigger the Z limit from the Z rods, I sent him a hall effect sensor to try out as they are very accurate and very small too, easy to use.
I will post some photos when I get back from the city.

thank you. I'm sure we will make it. It's just perfect to have jhead and huxley together on the same model .
Thx for this!
I really like it! :)

Just a quick question.
Has the main part of this been edited aswell in the latest version?

Printed just the sliding base and that is a great deal smaller than the original part in my print.
or is it just my print that is bad (made 2 copies).

Main part is with 100% fill and Sliding base with 50%.

THX

The main base is the original file.
The other two parts are made to fit as close as could be from just measurements as I didn't have the raw file for the main part.
The parts all fit together nicely on mine.
All parts were printed at 55% for mine prints.
I will try and make it a bit tighter so that if too tight a file may be needed to trim it up a bit.

The sliding base has been designed to be tapped with a M3 tap. Print this small part at 40% fill or more.

The main plate is 8mm. I will make a slide attachment for the huxley, unless Serge has already done so.
