J-Head hot end resistor wiring solder problem...? Hi, I've got a MK V J-Head with the 5.6Ohm resistor. I've had problems with it breaking away from the solder. I've made sure the connections are clean, soldered so there is solder around both the plug pins and resistor pins. The problem I am having is the solder appears to melt and eventually break connection. Is this a known issue with soldering hot ends and is there a better way to do make the connection? They act like heat sinks to dissipate the heat before reaching the solder joint and are very easy to remove.

I've a few photos and a description of my approach here on my blog, if you want to take a look at that. This sort of thing:



I tend to drip the plastic cover off as that can melt too, cover them up with a little bit of kapton tape so they can’t come into contact with the frame,

I use smaller ones to connect my thermistor.

Joy of this method is that it come apart easily if you need to remove the nozzle but is robust enough to deal with day to day printing
