Part Cooling Fan

Hey all, was wondering if you could explain your goal when aiming a fan at the freshly laid down filament. I've seen the centrifical fans with the pointy nozzle and just wondered where exactly are you aiming it? Obviously you don't want it blowing on the extruder tip. Thanks.

Ideally it should probably be pointing at where the plastic is being extruded, but since that's right next to the nozzle, tilting it down a bit would probably be better.
