[SKR 1.4] WiFi upload: "Please use 8.3 filename only."

As the title describes, I have put a lot of work in getting the printer controls to work over WiFi with the TFT35 v3.0 screen from BigTreeTech, everything works, but when I try to upload a gcode file through the web interface I get this error no matter what kind of filename I use. From what I understand this issue was fixed but it stays persistent in my setup.

Does anyone have a solution to this issue?

From what I understand this is an ESP3D issue, but everywhere I look it says this issue has already been fixed. I just can't find the solution.

Try formatting the card as fat32 or some such. I use octoprint so this is a guess.

I tried everything. ESP3D supports long filenames and it's a shortcoming of Marlin. Just bumping this post in hopes of someone knowing the solution. Meanwhile I'll try Reddit :)

Moved to Marlin since the ESP3D creator said it's a Marlin limitation. It's quite mindboggling how nobody else seems to have this issue. Or simply nobody uses the SKR 1.4 with screen and upload?

Anyway, my issue persists and flashing new firmware on the ESP-01S didn't help. If anyone knows how to approach this issue I would be grateful!
Some more info:
Can it be that '#define LONG_FILENAME_HOST_SUPPORT' has anything to do with it?

Quote
VDX
... is it the pure filename (e.g. "NNNNNNNN.EEE") or maybe the path or connection-naming added?

Using a filename with 8 characters and 3 extension characters does work for the upload. But the main thing is that I haven't found anyone else with this issue so I'm worried that this error is only hitting a few people. I'm starting to think maybe it's not the TFT35 but it's maybe the ESP3D.bin file I used, it may not be the latest and maybe I should flash the more modern .bin file with a FTDI programmer?

I'm on a macbook so I cannot use the windows FTDI flasher from BigTreeTech sadly :S
