        <description> I have an application where I want to mount a stepper motor but it will be difficult to access the normal mounting screws on the &quot;front&quot; mounting face.

When I look at normal stepper motors I noticed they have screws on the &quot;back&quot; as well, and even those screws are sometimes replaced by stand-offs to mount other things.

Is it possible to drill out the front place of a stepper, and run screws all the way through the whole stepper and &quot;sandwich&quot; it to the mounting plate? Then I would not need access to the screws at the front.</description>

            <description><![CDATA[ The solution I ended up adopting is removing two diagonal screws and drilling out the threads. This allows 3mm all-threaded rod, easily available in long lengths, to go all the way through the stepper and mount it to the back.<br />

I found some resources online where people did something similar with all 4 screws, but applying thin, wicking-type loctite to the stepper motor joints before removing the screws. The loctite is intended to hold the stepper together while the screws are removed and replaced. I didn't do that and I'm going to just use the two diagonal screws for now.]]></description>

            <description><![CDATA[ The screws at the back of the motor hold it together. It's possible to remove two of them, diagonally opposite each other, and replace them with longer screws that go through a plate first, thereby securing the motor to the plate.]]></description>
