Hello,

I need your help! I want to make a 3D modeling program aimed at 3D printer owners that is enjoyable to learn and use. That means it needs to be easily accessible, well documented and robust. Or something. I need to know what your frustrations and wish list kind of ideas are based on your 3D modeling experience. If you have 5-10 minutes and want a real 3D modeling program that is affordable and isn't aimed at enterprises or the game design/movie industry then feel free to chime in using the survey link below...

Hello everyone,

One of my most enjoyable moments with a 3D printer is using it to modify, enhanced or create new printer ideas. This has taken me into new fields as these new machines sometimes need parts that have to be fabricated such as printed circuit boards. This is the case with the 4-Off printer I have been designing for the past months. With 4 independent extruders all printing simultaneously, I need a control board that compliments the RAMP's board.

This led me to use my 3D printer to build a CNC Mill that I will use to drill, cut the needed traces and cut out the PC board from some stock material. The proto-type of the mill is finished. It is currently controlled by a RAMP's board until I build some more suitable electronics for it. Now I am into the learning curve of controlling CNC machines other than printers.

Of course like anything else, you can buy these machines but what fun is there in that? Well, ok, it is fun to spend money too, but not all of us can afford to.

If you would like to see this machine in more detail, visit the blog section at 3dprintingedmonton.ca

Hello fellow Edmontonians,

For the past several weeks, my printer has been working overtime tying to keep up with the countless number of prints I have been making. I decided there had to be a faster way and am now designing a new machine which can print four identical pieces simultaneously. It will be called the RepRap 4-Off. This machine has one master and three slave print heads. You will send your print to the master just like using any other printer but at the same time, the slaves will also be producing copies. Weather it is one piece on the print bed or a bed full of parts, you will get 4 of them printing at the same time.

Hello fellow 3D enthusiasts,

It has been a long time in the making and now Daniell Industries is on-line. My son and I have developed this website in hopes of supplying the hardware needs of RepRappers and other 3D printer designs.

It's not only 3D printing that we will be supporting though. We will also be supplying Arduino and related products. And by the years end, we hope to also be supplying hardware for DIY robotics.

Over the past few months we have been searching for quality items at decent prices. This has proven to be a challenge, but one we are slowly winning. Right now are stock is fairly low as we await new shipments. What I would appreciate from all of you is your comments and suggestions on what products you would like to see. Help us to stock our store with those hard to find locally items you need to build, modify and upgrade your current 3D printers or maybe even design new ones.

We do not currently have a location where you can come and browse. However, for those who live in the Edmonton area, we are offering personal delivery right to your door. For those outside our delivery range, we will ship via Canada Post unless you request a different courier such as UPS. For home delivery, we only accept cash. For all others we use PayPal.

Looking forward to serve your 3D printing needs. Visit us at www.daniellindustries.com

Hello Edmonton hobbiests, Steve here, I posted awhile back on the Calgary topic after completely missing there was already an Edmonton group.
After not receiving any form of an answer, and my funds lacking, I got discouraged and decided it wasn't the right time for me to pursuit repraps.
Now that years have past, and I'm far more stable, and after a promotion, I'll have a lot more time on my hands, to that end, I never stopped thinking about taking this up as a hobby;
Could I possibly get some feedback on where to get started on making a reprap, as well as, which model of reprap I should consider? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Just confirmed order on [www.mixshop.com]
- 1.75mm filament
- 0.34mm nozzle size
- PCB Heated Bed
- 12 x Linear Bearings

Also bought a set of printed parts from ebay Thorstad Company: [www.ebay.ca]

I asked for the Metric Prusa V1 with linear modification parts.

I am very excited to get this working (when it arrives) Just wanted to reach out to the EDM community to see if there are any tips ppl have? Or potential problems with my choices?

Also, where do you guys get your filaments? I was looking at mixshop and a2a. Prices seem to be the same one sells 1.5Kg other 1.0Kg. How much material should I start with? :)

Thanks all!

Hey, all.

I'm a Technical Officer over at the National Institute for Nanotechnology, and I'm planning to essay a RepRap once they declare 1.0 frozen and closed. I'm a foster parent as well, so my time is limited - I'd be more than happy to collab with someone and make two together instead. I have access to micro-CNC up to 4"x6"x2.38" envelope, and various other tools, so I can provide some (all?) of the RepStrapping of the machineable parts, though it make take a while - I'm not highly comfortable with the machine yet. Electronics ain't my expertise so if you're good at that, troubleshooting that half would probably be handy.

If you're in the area and interested, chime in here in this thread and we'll arrange contact info (I'll treat you to lunch!) via PM.
