calibrating extruder stepper current

A week or so ago I read a topic on this forum which also included a method of setting the correct stepper current for the extruder. Unfortunately I couldn't find it using search, google etc... I didn't find this on the wiki so I thought i'd try it and add it if it works.

If anyone remembers the topic and could point it out, I'd appreciate it.

Anyway, as a rule of thumb, always double check what people write.

There was a difference of opinion about whether you should set it high enough for stripping the filament or low enough to skip steps at [forums.reprap.org]
