Reprap has inspired a future-discussion scenario over at the Center for Responsible Nanotechnology. [www.crnano.org]
All 8 scenarios are worth reading but in Scenario #2: Positive Expectations, Reprap plays a central role.

... hm ... the 'Omega-Point' until 2020 ...

This time-scala would outrun most 'optimistic' visions of the 'pure nano'-thinktanks by three decades, so the possible acceleration by including the reprap-comunity in the evolutionary path seems to bring very much speedup winking smiley

haha! awesome. thats really cool that they write about us.

i'd say they are pretty much spot-on. come 2011 we'll have a pretty darn kickass robot. although 2008 will see some very exciting things (i have a feeling we'll self-replicate.)
