im gonna find out how long the buffer tube tower and fcg holes will last.
this was my first try at printing one.
p.s. dont ever try to sell one of these because you can only make this for yourself. (USA)

Actually, according to US Federal law, you can sell one of these after making it, but you can't make one that you intend to sell. It's an odd distinction, but that's often how laws work out.

In order to eventually sell one of these, it would need clear, impressed markings that describe the maker, maker location (state is enough) and serial number in lettering at least 1/8" high and .003" deep.

If you end up selling more than a few of the ones that "you made for yourself", the BATFE may decide that you needed an 07 FFL after the fact and accuse you of being an unlicensed manufacturer. That's not a good thing, but you won't get in trouble if you made three for yourself and eventually sold one down the road.

By the way, do you have .stl for that? I would LOVE to print one (for myself, of course).

Ah yes, a quick search reveals two receiver designs. Very nice.

As for the legality of sale, the ATF disagrees with you. On page 2 of this response letter, this ATF agent clarifies that the only prerequisite for sale is proper markings:

There are similar examples of ATF letters with similar statements at several locations.

Though I do 100% agree that it's a spectacularly bad idea to make one of these with the intent of selling it. Just don't do it.

What if he prints it in mexico and then brings it home and sells it?

Out of curiosity, why the "after all" in the topic title ?

Are you trying to make people here angry so you have a reason to test your toy ?

Most of my technical comments should be correct, but is THIS one ?
Anyway, as a rule of thumb, always double check what people write.

Very cool! I printed an AR mag but was too timid to use it. If you're actually going to fire that, you might want to start with a .22 upper for teh safety.

that would probably be a good idea, i wish i had a 22 upper.
i handload, so maybe i should make some reduced power rounds to start off with.
i couldnt get the mag to print, im not skeining it right i think.

I see some cracks in the holes for the front takedown pins. Please stay safe. There's no reason why this should blow up, but I fully expect that area or the buffer tube attachment to break after a few shots.

this i believe also, that the buffer tube tower is the weak point here.
im going to skip the range this weekend. im gonna work on it some more.
ive built guns before, this is my first plastic part ive worked on.
belive me, i have no intention of reviving a bolt carrier directly my shoulder.

Very cool! You could probably use your model to make molds for casting.

I'm working on an accessory mount for a little Keltec P3AT. I'll put up pics when I'm done. Still designing it.

It's cool to see these machines being used for various real world applications. Firearms offer a lot of opportunity for development.

I even printed a special routerbase a few weeks ago. Worked great, but I didn't want to put on Thingiverse for fear that somebody may have it
come apart and hamburger their little digits.
