cover aluminium plate with kapton tape for insolation

take nichrome wire make in a spiral shape ( more heat generated )

place on platform put thermisitor on the center of the plate

place 4 or 5 mm glass on platform

what do you guys think about it ?

there is a simple way to calculate the power vs temperature

thanks =)

I just bolt on housed resistors I use 4 at 2.2 ohm running off 12V which gives me a nice even temp of 55C for PLA and yes I fix a thermistor in the middle of the aluminium plate using heat proof silicone and Kapton tape

Seems it has been tried. Pretty sure I have seen it a few places

[reprap.org]

I use 9 10ohm aluminum resistors in parallel (new printer uses 10 but that puts it over the current RAMPS 1.4 can handle so I use a relay). It has no problem hitting 135c for abs. That is with a 5mm aluminum bed and 3mm of glass also.
It is a direct copy of Arcol's bed.

I have pics of it on my flickr.

Elidor - I think what you are describing has been done a few times:

Adrians version: [reprap.org]
Some more heated beds: [reprap.development-tracker.info]
Also, Nophead did a lot of research into this: [hydraraptor.blogspot.com]

My attempt: [garyhodgson.com]

I actually don't use glass, rather I put green PET tape directly on the aluminium and print on that - so far it seems to work, but I only set the bed to ~55°C

Cheers,
Gary

I've made a couple of heated beds with uninsulated nichrome under dibond fr. They work very well with PLA @~45-70C, but is a bit fiddly to put together.

HI

thank alot ...

im just trying to design a really chip flat heatbed but i guess the easy way is better =)

after a really long couple of months im starting my site by next week ill wil be selling a orca 030 and pursa parts and complete sets ...yeeyyy

im all so waiting for prices on silicon heaters.... ireally what do use a glass on my bed for nice even surface and im tring to make the printer a few

cm lower for more compact size for orca 030

all so for direct filament drive im not using springs and it working great .

im sorry if it sound stupid im only trying =)))))
