RepRap Host and Rafts

If this has been answered, I haven't been able to find it so please point me in the right direction If you can.

I've been reading about printing rafts and also having the first layer of a print, extrude at a different temperature.

For the life of me I can't figure out how to do this in the RepRap host software. Is the foundation layer setting what makes the rafts? How do you control the size of the raft?

How do you change the temp for different layers?

Thanks for the help.

You must use Skeinforge instead of the RepRap Host software to create the gcode if you want rafts/delays and such functions.

Or RepSnapper.

I think foundationlayers is, as you suggest, the correct setting to use. There is also Extruder0_ExtrusionFoundationWidth, Extruder0_ExtrusionLastFoundationWidth, Extruder0_SeparationFraction, preferences. I assume the size of the foundation layer will be the bounding box of your stl.

Use FoundationLayers=# (-1 is default).

In the RepRap Preferences dialog window Globals tab is a field FoundationLayers which is set to 0 by default.
Set it to a non-zero value, e.g. "2".

In the Extruder 0 tab are settings for:
  • Extruder0_ExtrusionFoundationWidth(mm)
  • Extruder0_ExtrusionLastFoundationWidth(mm)
Both set at 2 by default.
Change these as needed.
