Does anyone know why wades geared extruder displays werid like a star shape in reprap host software after you load its stl file ready to be sliced ?

Anyone know how to fix this ? see picture for details

It usually means that the model is not manifold and you need to use Blender or some other software to correct the problem.
The RepRap Host is especially sensitive, most of these stl models can be properly processed by skeinforge without any problems.

The Reprap host doesn't display the Stl properly at all, it's not even close. It might be a binary vs ASCII thing, but it works in Skeinforge, so I just use that.

That's an idea that I can easily check...

I'll write a program to convert STL between BINARY and ASCII and if the object is in BINARY convert it to ASCII and try again.
Doesn't seem likely that this is the problem, but who knows...
