Hi to all on the forum,
I have been having some trouble with my A4983 pololu driven extruder. For some reason it decided to stop working mid print. The best I can get from it is a slight rocking motion which changes to a fast vibration/humming if i increase/decrease the extruder speed or turn the trimpot. placing a bigger heatsink on the board and placing the fan closer to it doesn't seem to help either. I didn't have a fan on this previously so my guess is that it slowly fried (or should that be poached?).
I have used the breakout board layout as shown on the wiki (attached) so will be making another to replace it.
Before doing so, i'd just like to ask if there are any changes which would need to be made to the layout if an A4984 board is used instead, specifically with regards to stepping. I know these only support 1/8th steps but even then I have better extruder control when compared to using the h bridges.
Datasheets state it is a drop in replacement but i thought it may be best to check before going in gung-ho.
Thanks
Raj
