PCB heatbed on acrylic

I would like to install Mk2 PCB heatbed on my printer in similiar fashion as described here [josefprusa.cz], but my top plate is made of acrylic, not wood. Is it safe to use heatbed on acrylic, or should I replace it with wood? What (minimum) amount of standoff should I use? Thanks.

Mine is mounted on an acrylic plate, I used 5mm spacers and insulation under the heatbed. The insulation is non-itch pipe wrap I found in Lowe's plumbing section. The insulation keeps the acrylic from getting to hot.
