The MMaxislider project

For those of you interested in larger printers i am working on a new prototype printer called the "MMaxislider", i have uploaded all .stl files and a .stp file to Thingiverse for those of you interested - [www.thingiverse.com]
The MMaxislider is a descendant of the Mendelmax. I am currently pricing components, initially i was going to order from Misumi but due to their policy (South East ASia Group) of only selling to corporations i am trying to source parts locally i.e in Australia, just waiting on some quotes for the extrusion to come through and then i will start the build.
I am still waiting to hear back from Bart Dring from the Makerslide store [store.makerslide.com] who has agreed to supply Makerslide free of charge for the project under his "Makership Program" [www.makerslide.com] He seems flat out with his Ordbots, you could say that the MMaxislider is a cross between a Mendelmax and a Ordbot!
The estimated cost of the printer excluding electronics, plastic parts, extruder, including everything in the model is about $600 - still final pricing components.
So let me know what you think, still looking for someone to print the parts, my best offer so far is to swap the vitamins for a printed set (less the motors, but this seems a bit too pricey for me $500. I think the printed parts come to about 1300cm3( i think the mendel is between 1100-1200 cm3.
Any suggestions for improvements would be most welcome.

Hi jjimmijj,

How's your MMaxislider project coming along?

I have an Uncle who is willing to use his aluminium extrusion machine to produce Makerslide, but now I'm seeing if I can drum up demand, since a larger order would reduce his retooling costs and time costs (he makes standard extrusions for other people too).

Where are you located? I'm in Singapore, maybe we could work together =)
