More Bad Filament

I'm not sure what the odds of this are but I've gotten another roll of filament with air in it. This time from the Reprap-Walmart, the chinese filament distributor. Now I didn't exactly have high hopes but the blue glow in the dark ABS that I bought is literally spewing out tiny air bubbles. The bubbles are small enough that you can still print with it, it just gives a terrible finish.

Anyone else have any problems with Repraper.com?

I have had really good experiences with their filament. I have a roll of glow in the dark Blue and Green coming so I will let you know if I find any issues with them.

Not sure if the problem is air or moisture. If I had a good way to photograph it I would. But tiny little bubbles every where. I'm batting a thousand here.

I've actually heard good things about them as well. The dark blue glow in the dark is what I bought.

If I have an issue I will put it under my usb microscope and get some good pictures.

Try drying it in your oven for a while if you suspect moisture.

Also, I've gotten bubbles when I set my temperature too high.
Try printing at a lower temperature then you use with your other filament.

I've had popping and hissing when printing at too low of a temp with the Repraper plastic, strangely enough. I kept dropping the temp thinking that I was too high but it didn't help. The trick was that I had to raise the temp. I now print most of the repraper plastic at 237C and it works great without the hissing.

Bubbles is a different thing all together though. I've got a roll of gold from them that bubbles at anything above 220C. The extruded plastic is really brittle also. Dropping the temp to 200 or lower is the only thing that alleviates that for me though, but I end up having troubles jamming. I've got a sneaky suspicion that my gold roll is actually PLA, not ABS.

I just received the glow in the dark yesterday and haven't had a chance to print yet. One of my co-workers has printed with it without any drama though. He was likely up in the high 230C range also for that.

Simon from Repraper got back to me. Asked me to take some pictures and to lower the temperature. I've tried as low as 210, the lowest I can go before my extruder stops extruding properly. Hopefully they handle it better than the last company.
