H bridge 2 parallel motors

Hi, everybody,

I want to add a second motor to the X motor. I want to put them in parallel, when I command one, the second is also commanded!!

Can I connect a second motor in parallel after the stepper driver. Or must I connect the command of arduino to a second stepper driver, and this to a second motor.

Well many RepRap machines have exactly that for the Z axis, two motors in parallel driven by one driver. So it should work for the X (or Y) axis as well.

Hi David,

Exactly!!

Think you so much!! I just need to put a radiator on the stepper driver!!

Thnik you!!

With two motors and one driver you cannot get max speed and torque out of your motors.

Depends on how much current you need. If the driver can spend enough for both, it works. Typically Pololus can't max out steppers anyways, it's always a matter of sufficient torque.

That said, one can run two Pololus in parallel, too. Apply the same Step and Dir signal to both and they should behave identical.
