Heat Chamber

Hey,

So I have been looking at some 3D printers and I have noticed that some are completely enclosed and have a heat chamber.

I think for ABS this would be ideal.

However, does making a heat chamber work and does it increase print quality?

If so, what would I use to provide the heat and keep it at a set temp.

Thanks

Not so much print quality, more to stop tall ABS parts from cracking and delaminating. I made one for mine but have yet to put additional heating inside - gets to about 40C from the internally genarated heat. I have been considering a 100/ 150W halogen lamp to provide the extra heat (and light). Consensus seems to be for a target temp of around 80C.

Are all your electronics in the heat chamber as well?

I just went to the mini maker faire in CT, and there was a fortus machine with the heated build chamber. This would ideal for printing nylon.

Yep, everything is inside although the controller/Ramps is in the back left corner and air is drawn in through a vent in the cabinet and directed onto the electronics by the fan.
