USB connection to Ramps 1.4

I have a 3DP printer that uses an Arduino/Ramps 1.4 board. I want to update the firmware to but I can't seem to connect to it with the USB. I've done this on other boards without problems, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

So far I have connected the USB cord to the USB connections on the Arduino. Starting with Pronterface I tried to connect by scanning the port. It returned Com 9. Using Com 9 I tried to connect at all the various baud rates but to no avail.

Is there something simple that I'm missing?

To upgrade the firmware you use the arduino IDE (Arduino.cc and not that other fake wannabe site)
You should have 2 box's one for interface type and one for baud rate. have you tryed the changing the interface type?
I have had my report that it was a modem once!

I just started with Pronterface just to see if I could connect and control it.

Using Ardunio software and picking on the Tools menu I see serial port as grayed out, which I'm taking to mean that it doesn't see the Ardunio. Is there a jumper that turns off the USB?

It was something simple after all. I needed to update my USB to Arduino driver.
