Rather stupid because a trademark has to be actively pursued against all infringements or you lose it and the word falls into the public domain. Has happened to a few large companies who did not actively run around with attorneys on retainer stamping out every infringement and I would think that being selective on who you go after for a violation of a patent and who you don't would weaken your case.
