I've had to slow down print speeds for slic3r by about half. cura takes longer to compile, but the prints run faster, and back pressure is manageable. i don't know why either. perhaps it is how extruder acceleration is handled in skeinforge vs slic3r?

Hi

Well on 9 it was ok but the latest version is really bad

But we can not complain the guys doing a great job

I think the problem is that the extruder not working on the right speed
When printing fast .

Now I'm printing again with 8.4 and the print are nice on 80 mm/sec
Faster then that and the infill not so good
When I was trying slicer 9 on 150 mm/sec
I got a nice printing but the solid layers was not covers all the way
(like small gap between the lines )

Will see

Thank you

Hi there,

Slic3r 9.2 is broken - It does not lifte the nozzel to the appropriate height for the first layer. I recopmend you skip Slic3r 9.2

Starting on Slic3r 9, the layer widths and height can be controlled for seperate situations.

By default, the first layer height will be larger than your default layer height (even if you put a 0 for your first layer height)

Solution: To make Slic3r 9.1 work for you, you should manually select your layer heights and widths.

Attempt to print a 20mm block, but only print the first layer. Adjust your first layer height and width until you are getting a perfect little postage stamp for your first layer.

A larger height and width for your first layer will help adhesion to the plate.

Good luck!

once you find a layer height and width that sticks to the plate, you can use a smaller layer height and width for a higher quality print smiling smiley

@ Elidor Do not use 0.8.4 for anything. It adds 0.1mm in X and Y to almost all surfaces and nothing fits together.

I personally have not found a version of Slic3r that works since 0.7.2b and it works great. The odd time you will get infill escaping the perimeter and all you have to do is rotate the model a little and the problem is gone. It also prints the tips of sharp edges a a separate piece but that is fine because it comes right off and you don't actually want the tip anyway because the print path is wider then the tip. The newer slic3r just drop that bit of code which is great but not worth dealing with the rest of the bugs.
