Plain steel threaded rod?

Plain steel threaded rod?

Hi, this is my first post on this forum.

I've been sourcing parts to build a Prusa Mendel, and I am wondering if plain steel threaded rod will work for the frame, and if it works any better or worse than other types of threaded rod, such as galvanized.

Also, if plain steel doesn't work, then what kind of threaded rod should I get?

edit: For example, do galvanized threaded rods work better than plain steel rods with no zinc plating?

Thanks a lot!

Of course it will. You just have to either paint them or keep them oiled if you don't want a rusty frame. It's really best to use zinc plated threaded rods for the frame to avoid rust.
