lm8uu y axis question on new build
October 12, 2012 10:05PM
I am building a i2 and chose to upgrade the parts so i dont have to do it later. Well the plastic parts i got from here only came with 3 y axis lm8uu holders i have searched and some people say 3 is fine but they end up running 4. So my question is how stable it is to runn 3?

I run 3 and find it stable enough and it self centres better too. Using 4 means you have to be absolutley 100% in your framing whereas 3 is a bit more forgiving

I use 3 bushings on my over-sized MendelMax y-bed. The bed is > 300mm x 300mm, and is plenty stable. I would recommend only using 3, unless you can be extremely confident that you have everything lined up perfectly.
