3d printing Mac

HI, I am new to this completely. I am buying a 12"x12" Mendel Prusa and I need to figure out how to get this working on the mac while I wait for it to come in the mail. I am having no luck with the kit instructions on the website because It says it is doable with a mac but the instructions only seem to go with the windows setup. After some researching I did find the Repetier host mac software from this link [forums.reprap.org] I would like to know is this the only software that I need? to get the printer running once I have the STL files because the google sketchup and STL plugins all work fine. It is just getting them onto the 3d printer that I have no idea about. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank you.

I am fairly new as well and using Mac. I have an Airwolf 3D printer that is also repetier.

Fist you need to slice the stl file, ths creates gcode files tha your printer understands. Then you need to feed the gcode to the printer.

There are several ways to do all of this but I am using Slic3r to slice the file into gcode. Then I use Pronterface to send the file to the printer.

Works pretty good though Sliv3r does have issues, I found it to be he best

Other options include skienforge (to slice) and repligarg to send.

So there are several ways to do all of this and even more options than I mention. Just need to get the stl sliced to gcode then send it to the printer

First, you need to get it mechanically calibrated. This is a good guide: [reprap.org]
Then, once you start printing, fine tune the extrusion by following this guide: [github.com]
I dont think there are any built in calibration tools in the software.
