chose RepRap type

Hi everybody.I'm from VietNam.I want to make a RepRap machine to gradute polytechnic.In Vietnam don't have document about RepRap.So,I hope you can help me.I want to ask : What RepRap machine type is the most simple.whiteAnt CNC or RepRap Mendel .Thanks a lot

seemecnc with reprap electronics. parts are sturdy, it is cheap to build has documentation, and with ramps electronics it is something we can help troubleshoot. i don't know what white ant is, i saw a video, and it does not look like it is for a newbie.

mendel is better than a prusa, but prusa is a lot simpler and approaching the quality.

3d printing is a pain in the ass currently. it never works when you need it, it sometimes works when your friends are over, and it will break when you absolutely are on a deadline. be very careful before deciding it for a graded project. there are so many things you don't think about and can't plan for having not built one before. you are probably better getting a kit with known results. go for the best. reprapro.[reprappro.com] do some research.

thanks a lot. I have 5 months to complete graduate plan.you think Can I complete it ?

I see WhiteAnt, about mechanics parts,It is simpler and materials is wood (cheap ) .Mendel Prusa,about hardware, Do I have to buy it ? (expensive ~ 500USD ) .I know Mendel Prusa is more assemble than, but have to buy many hardware.

The white ant uses a proprietary set of electronics. In addition it uses fairly expensive v-groove bearings. Add to this the need for fairly accurate cutting and drilling.

Being in Vietnam, do you face high import duties on goods from China? If not I would suggest sourcing some of the more expensive components from there.

I would reccomend a prusa mendel as a first build due to the relative simplicity. Do you have easy access to 8mm threaded rod?

Workshops usually manage to build a printer in a single day, so 5 months should be plenty. If the White Ant is your favourite, you might also want to have a look for the WolfStrap. It's one of RepRap's most affordable designs.

Also, the Mantis CNC may provide a good design for a low-budget printer you can build yourself: [makeyourbot.wikidot.com]
The electronics are always going to be your biggest difficulty/expense. However, if you can build a Mantis CNC, you can mill your own Gen7 electronics!

my suggestion would be a mendel90 by Nophead.

very simple to build as you can use just plywood or MDF wich is easy to source. the parts are maybe the most difficult part to get then. but i think you can get them here on the forum, you shouldent be the only vietnamees builder here.

In Vietnam, there is [reprap.vn] that you can get Vietnamese RepRap document from. For the most simple and suitable RepRap Model for you, I would suggest RepRap Morgan which is intended to be the next default RepRap, and cheap, easy!
