Thought people might be interested to know Ransen software has just released a new version of Photo to Mesh (V3) that allows for printing photos onto cylinders. I've been testing the software for the last few weeks and its just been released today.

I have some examples on my blog here

Great for making your own night lights with an electric tea candle!!

Cheers
Jamie

If you don't want to get through wilsonj's "custom" link (who forgot to mention he has some affiliation with Ransen) here is a direct link :

Note, this is a windows only software, it cost around 50$, there is a demo version but I'm not sure it can export files.

Most of my technical comments should be correct, but is THIS one ?
Anyway, as a rule of thumb, always double check what people write.

Didn't spot it was not open source

There is a free application [www.thingiverse.com] - Alan Turing Lithophane

"The heavy lifting for this was done by Sven Geisel's brilliant bitmap-to-STL conversion tool ba-bautzen.de/~geisel/bmp2iges.htm."

Yeah sorry it was late (or early) when I posted. Forgot to say I am affiliated. But that doesnt diminish the fact that it is still a neat program.

As for the demo. I haven't tried the new demo version, but if its like the old one it is fully functional, but has the word demo printed across the picture.
