Thermistor burn out on hot end?

Does anyone have any idea why the thermistor would burn out on a Mendal pro when the temp is set on pronterface. The machine has not been used yet to actually print and keeps melting wires. Does anyone know where to buy a new 100K thermistor?

... either wrong temp-table and max. temp settings, so the controlling algorhythm didn't stop heating, or the thermistor pins were not assigned to the correct port-pins ...
