Looking at my power supply I don't have anything that puts out 5A
I don't know what to connect (i'm not using a heated bed so i assume not to connect to the top two)
12V......14A
12V......15A
5V........28A
3.3V.....30A
5Vsb......2A
12V.....0.8A

Hi there,

The amperage can be higher than 5 amps, just make sure the voltage is only 12v smiling smiley

It is telling you that it needs "at least" 5 amps to run.

The RAMPs board will only draw what current (amps) it requires so as long as the power supply can deliver more that the 5A you want no problem but make sure you use the correct cables because there could be 12V +ve and 12V-ve If you have a atx power supply I think the colours of the cable are yellow for 12V +ve and black for the 0

Also if you're calculating how much current you need for stuff, assume your power supply isn't quite as good as it says it is - I wouldn't try and draw much more than 10A from either of the top two rails. For some reason computer PSUs are generally awful, and lie on their specifications, which can catch people out.
