Greetings all,

Here's a link (found via slashdot.org) on a novel use for CNC "machining" -- carving realistic faces onto pumpkins:

Check it out (screenshots, still photos, no video of the process, alas.)
I'm impressed with how realistic this looks! This makes me really wish I had my repstrap machine farther along.
Maybe next year....

Cool idea. Pity my z-axis gantry isn't high enough to handle something that big. sad smiley

search for "Litophane" or the material "Corian" - it's nice for flat images too winking smiley

Hi Forrest,

... of course, you can make nice lithophanes for your family and friends - this is a perfect gift instead of a 'simple photo'.

Unfortunately the relavant threads and images are from a german CNC-forum, where you have to login - or i would link you to some other samples with private photos of children or recolorized artwork with applied coloured back-sheets as in the atached images ...
